I have over twenty years of experience working with clients who have experienced painful childhoods, the effects of substance abuse and trauma, legal problems, mood related problems, challenges relating to parenting or to personal relationships, cultural issues and rejection by the larger society or by their own culture/family, LGBTQ related issues, work problems and stress, problems related to immigration and also cross-country moves, dealing with the work culture of Los Angeles, body image issues, women's issues, sobriety and recovery challenges, alanon and codependency issues, and more. I offer a safe space to talk and utilize a combination of talk therapy, somatic body work, and yoga, allowing the mind-body connection to help heal the person as a whole. I work with adjunct resources such as yoga, bodywork, 12 step resources, and other professionals in the community (psychiatrists, sober living homes, family interventions) when needed. I also use appropriate humor and a light approach to heavier issues.
